the diesel mechanic

So there I was, staring at my little power stroke and thinking to myself (I do that now and then) and I thought that since it hasn't choked on an injector for almost 6 months, I was ready for another project. I found an intercooler on the ever amazing ebay from a 99 superduty a couple months ago and ordered some stainless steel tubes from Geoff at GTS-Motorsports. After a lot of polishing, sawing, die grinding, knuckle bloodying, and cussing, the "double bypass" was performed.

Here is a parts list that should be helpful.

Before:

I always forget to take the "before" picture, so this is as close as I can get... Just imagine the valve covers and Tymar intake being there too.

After:

RESULTS:

I lost a couple psi of boost. The best I could get after I got all the couplers to stay together was 25 psi. My exhaust temps dropped about 200 F which is nice. I was able to hold it wide open in OD without getting too hot. The speedo was rapped tight and the tach was approaching never never land though so I backed out. There was also a honda in the way. Pulling the mercury to Reno for hot august nights will be the real test.

Once again, I forgot to take pictures of the pipes before polishing, but believe me, they looked nothing like this.

Polished Pipes and y-pipe.

Intercooler in place.

Still there.

Andy, what is that?

Screw the bumper, lets test it. (we raced the lawnmower)

First test found the week link... I got no more boost. 25 psi on 3.5" coupler is 240 lbs. Tighten the clamps more?

Obvioulsy too much time on my hands.

I should get a girlfriend.

Tight fit.

Dammit, my engine cover doesn't fit anymore.

Still got AC too

Badd Asss

99 setup from Ebay

factory pipes don't fit, but the couplers do.

blah blah blah
